JOB TITLE: Admissions Counselor

COMPENSATION:  $38,000 Starting Salary

DIVISION:  Enrollment and Student Services

DEPARTMENT: Marketing and Public Relations

REPORTS TO: Director of Admissions and Strategic Communications

SUPERVISES: Not applicable

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One year’s experience in college admissions
  • Experience with database use and customer relationship management systems

POSITION SUMMARY:  

The Admissions Counselor serves as a vital ambassador of the College, responsible for engaging and guiding prospective students and their families through the admissions process. With a strong focus on accessibility and student success, this role engages with diverse populations—including first-generation students, adult learners, and transfer students—to promote awareness of academic programs, career pathways, and support services. The Admissions Counselor assists applicants from initial inquiry through application acceptance. The ideal candidate is a compassionate communicator, organized multitasker, and committed advocate for a welcoming, affordable, and high-quality education.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Reviews prospective student applications and supporting documents and ensures a complete and eligible application for submission and consideration
  • Correspond with prospective students in a knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging way through direct mail, telephone, and digital channels
  • Works collaboratively with their director and other counselors to review applicants, move applicants through the admissions process, and send out admissions offers
  • Provides recommendation for process optimization throughout the admissions process
  • Stays up to date on fraudulent application procedures, ensuring attention to detail in review and evaluation
  • Maintains accurate documentation and records of students’ progress toward application submissions and next steps in the admissions process
  • Contributes to the planning and execution of recruitment campaigns, events, and yield activities designed to increase enrollment and student engagement
  • Stays current on institutional offerings, pathways, and transfer agreements designed to increase enrollment and student engagement
  • Supports admissions and recruiting events as needed

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to obtain the following clearances and training:

  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance
  • Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History Record Check
  • Federal Criminal History Background Check
  • Training Certificate - Mandated and Permissive Reporting in Pennsylvania

  • Occasional ascending or descending of stairs, moving about workspaces to accomplish tasks

WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Office assignment contingent upon business need
  • Work hours:    8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Friday. Evening and weekend hours may be required during peak seasons
  • Notwithstanding the office hours, full-time employees are expected to work a minimum of 37 hours per week

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Infrequent travel required
